English Road ("we", "our", "the site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information we collect

We do not ask for or store personal information on our servers. You can use English Road without an account, and there are no sign-up forms.

Your learning data — completed lessons, flashcard reviews, streaks, your theme and your cookie choice — is stored in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device, and you can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Cookies

English Road itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you accept the cookie banner, Google AdSense may set cookies and use similar technologies to show and measure ads. If you decline, ad and analytics scripts are not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page.

Analytics

If enabled, we use Plausible Analytics to count page views. Plausible does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses and keeps only aggregated statistics. It is loaded only after you accept the cookie banner.

Advertising

English Road is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. Ads load only after you accept the cookie banner. Google and its partners may then use cookies to show personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel processes technical data such as IP addresses and browser type in short-lived server logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not use these logs to identify visitors.

Third-party links

Our site may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children's privacy

English Road does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Under the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data and to withdraw consent at any time. We store no personal data on our servers: your learning data lives only in your browser and you can clear it yourself. Google's processing of ad data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
