What is CEFR?

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is the international standard for describing language ability, from A1 for absolute beginners to C2 for near-native mastery. Every lesson on English Road is mapped to one of these six levels, so you always know exactly where you are on the road and what comes next. You can start from zero or jump in at your level after a quick placement test.

How English Road works

The course follows a grammar-first roadmap: 48 focused lessons build on each other in a carefully planned sequence, from the verb "to be" to advanced structures like inversion and mixed conditionals. Each lesson combines a clear explanation, real-life example sentences, vocabulary with phonetic transcription, and interactive exercises — multiple choice, gap fill, matching and sentence building — so you practise immediately after learning.

Who is it for?

English Road is built for self-learners who want a structured path instead of random videos and scattered exercises. Explanations are available with hints in Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Ukrainian, and everything works without registration — your progress is saved right in your browser. It is completely free: no paywalls, no sign-up, no limits.
